First off, that expression is priceless. More on that later. Composition is well done in regards to rule of thirds, colors, focus, and depth of field. The rule of thirds always makes the images more powerful which you did perfectly by making this little guy off center. It was a good decision to show the fur from his parent which he clings to, rather than show to much empty space above his head. The off center position was the best if not only choice. If you follow his gaze there is space for him to look into. If he was on the right side of the image it would feel like he was looking at a wall or had a blocked view. The colors are beautiful. There is great tonal range between the light grays, to the amber, to the warm browns. Overall the colors feel very warm and almost chocolate like. It causes a warmer atmosphere, even though his expression seems otherwise. The focus is wonderful and he is tack sharp. Minimal depth of field is very effective in this piece and a very good decision. It would not have been as moving if it was otherwise. Now the expression I just adore. It is the perfect expression, and to capture it at the right moment which you did successfully is not an easy task. To know the decisive moment at which to press the shutter button takes time and a trained eye to achieve.

Absolutely spectacular composition and timing.
